![]() ![]() Millwall were beating the Canaries 1-0 at Carrow Road through Teddy Sheringham's header when it all kicked off between Canary legend Robert Fleck and Lions' defender Steve Wood. Flecky didn't take kindly to Wood's tackle and appeared to stand on him. He turned around and started pushing Wood. Referee John Kirkby stepped in and sent them both off. To be fair Wood was a bit unlucky to be given his marching orders but Fleck let his passion get the better of him and would have knocked Wood out if the referee hadn't intervened. Fortunately Andy Townsend equalised and salvaged a point for Norwich. ![]() That pathetic excuse for a footballer Kevin Muscat had already been shown a red card following a shocking tackle on Darren Eadie when Ray Houghton stepped in and accused Eadie of diving. Houghton had never been sent off during his 18 year professional career but when Eadie got to his feet Houghton totally lost the plot and shoved him back down again. What followed was mayhem, every player except Palace defender David Tuttle joined in a massive brawl. Norwich boss Mike Walker didn't seem too bothered though. "I'm glad our lads stood up to be counted. At least the players showed some reaction." I should think so too Mike because Kevin Muscat and his team mates were an absolute disgrace. ![]() With about 8 minutes remaining and the score deadlocked at 0-0 Remy and Johnson started shoving each other around. Remy attempted a timid headbutt on Johnson who then started wandering off in the opposite direction before being confronted by Shola Ameobi. Johnson looked as though he was about to burst out laughing and was saying to Remy, "You call that a headbutt?!" Referee Chris Foy decided to send both players off but Johnson's red card was later wiped out. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, shortly to impersonate Remy's headbutt on Hull midfielder David Meyler slammed Johnson for his "stupid reaction." The phrase "the pot calling the kettle black" has never been more appropiate! ![]()
![]() On loan striker Peter Crouch netted the Canaries' 3rd goal when they beat Walsall 3-1 at the Bescott Stadium in November 2003. Unfortunately he also got himself needlessly sent off in the 89th minute after he got into a feeble shoving match with Walsall's former Manchester City defender Paul Ritchie who was also given his marching orders by referee Mark Cowburn. ![]() Former Norwich defender Andy Rollings clashed with Justin Fashanu at the Goldstone Ground in 1979 and ended up being sent off for retaliation. Fashanu had broken Rollings' nose earlier in the match before he led with his elbow and Rollings whacked him in the back out of pure frustration. Rollings, with blood spilling out of his nose left the field to a standing ovation from the home support . Rollings, now a propriertor of the Chalet Cafe in Preston Park, Brighton remembers the incident well. "He (Fashanu) broke my nose for about the 8th time. Fashanu was trying to demolish me. Eventually the red mist came over me, I threw a punch." Norwich won the match 4-2 with goals by Goble, Paddon, Taylor and Reeves.
