Farke

Everybody must be eating humble pie about Daniel Farke right now, myself included. Norwich City sit perched proudly on top of the Championship in mid-November following 9 wins in 11 matches. The astonishing 4-3 last minute home victory against Millwall will surely not be bettered this season or any other season for pure drama and excitement. The way Norwich stuck at it and never gave up, even at 3-2 down with 7 minutes to go of the 90 was testament to the togetherness of this current bunch of players who have improved considerably since last season.

Last season the Carrow Road faithful had to put up with endless 0-0 draws and lack of hope for the future. The summer sale of James Maddison to Leicester City of the Premier League who scored most of our goals last season, and to a lesser extent Josh Murphy, seemed to signal another season of hard slog. However after a mediocre start to the campaign the Canaries began to find their feet, as well as goals, self-belief and bags of spirit.

The loss of Maddison has given the chance for other players to step up to the plate, including Marco Stiepermann, a totally different player to the one last season, Moritz Leitner and Teemu Pukki, 9 goals in 14 Championship matches as I write, signed on a free transfer after being released by Brondby. A special mention also for 18 year old Max Aarons who has come out of nowhere to make the right-back spot his own. The likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have already been sniffing around because they realise that this boy could turn into a special player and future full England international.

The only downside to the Canaries' impressive season so far has been their appalling record from the penalty spot which has seen them miss 4 out of 5. Jordan Rhodes has missed two, Pukki and Vranic, one a piece. Surely Neil Adams should be asked to give them some advice on taking a spot-kick? He was a brilliant penalty taker, hardly ever missed. Isn't he still working for City arranging loan deals? Come on Daniel Farke, don't hang around because eventually missing a penalty could be crucial.

It's been a brilliant start to the season for the Canaries but let's not get carried away, promotion is some way off yet. No one expected us to be in the position we're in, so let's enjoy it while it lasts!
