Scottish international Ian Murray could play in defence and midfield and initially seemed to be a useful acquisition when signed by Peter Grant in August 2007 from Glasgow Rangers. However this proved to be far from the case as Murray's shortlived Norwich career was disastrous. He was substituted at half-time by Grant after a dreadful performance at Rochdale in the League Cup, which was put down to Murray being unwell. He wasn't too keen on Glenn Roeder. "He's an angry man, not nice to play for" moaned Murray. Returned to Scotland after only 9 Norwich games to play for Hibernian in 2008. Now player/manager of Dumbarton.

Matthew Rush was Martin O'Neill's first signing as Norwich boss for £300,000 from West Ham in 1995. A promising winger, Rush got injured just 2 days after his Norwich debut against Sunderland and only managed 3 appearances overall. Joined Oldham Athletic in 1997 but had to retire soon afterwards because of a cruciate ligament injury. Now a teacher.

Bruce Rioch signed Pape Diop, a Senegal international, from Lens in August 1999. He played 10 games for the Canaries, his final appearance, a Boxing Day home game against Queens Park Rangers. when he allegedly spat at the opposition fans. Soon afterwards Diop left Norwich to return to France with Racing Club de Paris. Although Bruce Rioch claimed that Diop left England because his wife failed to settle in the country this just seemed like a convenient excuse. Currently playing in Albania for Dinamo Tirana.

Raymond De Waard was a Dutch winger signed from SC Cambuur Leeuwarden in March 2000. His unsuccessful Norwich career was plagued by injuries and poor form. He made 13 appearances for the Canaries, scoring once.

David Smith joined Norwich as a trainee in November 1987 and made his first team debut against Derby in April 1990. "Smudger" played 18 times for City, scoring none. An average player at best, Liverpool born Smith left to join Oxford United in July 1994 and made nearly 200 league appearances for them.

John Bond admitted that he had signed Yugoslav international Drazen Muzinic on reputation and had never seen him play. Muzinic couldn't speak a word of English and during one game Bond employed a interpreter from the UEA to pass on instructions to him from the touchline! Muzinic was City's record signing at £300,000 but it proved to be the biggest waste of money ever. After 23 unsuccessful appearances for the Canaries Ken Brown cancelled Muzinic's contract in 1982.

Jason Jarrett arrived at Carrow Road in June 2005 from Wigan on a free. Jarrett had a torrid time at Norwich, only 15 appearances, sent out on loan twice and a falling out with Nigel Worthington. Indeed after Jarrett joined Preston in 2006 he accused Worthington of wasting his time and treating him unfairly.

Central defender Neil Emblen was once described as "the new Bryan Robson" and when Nigel Worthington signed him in July 2001 (£500,000 from Wolves) he made him club captain. However after being stretchered off on his debut against Millwall Emblen only started a further 5 games, mainly because of chronic knee injury problems. In June 2003 he joined Walsall after initially playing for them on loan. Now assistant manager of the New Zealand national team.
