Dutch left-back Fernando Derveld joined Norwich in March 2000. Signed by Bryan Hamilton a few weeks after the Irishman's predecessor Bruce Rioch had rejected him after a trial. Derveld made 25 appearances during his mediocre time at Carrow Road. His only highlight, a fine goal in a 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion who later signed him on loan. Albion soon regretted this decision (he only played for them twice) and sent him back to Norwich who failed to get any money for him. His contract was cancelled in June 2001. In May 2012 Derveld began coaching Dayton Dutch Lions F.C, a women's team in the Netherlands.

Dejan Stefanovic was a fans' favourite at Portsmouth, winning the player of the year award for 2004/05. However his 13 months at Carrow Road were totally forgettable. Stefanovic, a Yugoslavian/Serbian and Montenegro international with 20 caps, damaged his knee ligaments against Preston in November 2008 and missed the rest of the season. On September 1st 2009 after only 12 appearances for the Canaries Stefanovic had his contract terminated. Stefanovic still hasn't fulfilled his dream of managing Portsmouth! He's now playing in the Conference South for Havant and Waterlooville.

Brian McGovern arrived at Carrow Road from Arsenal in August 2000 for £50,000. Described as "even faster than Marc Overmars", Bryan Hamilton clearly signed the wrong player. He made a habit of this! Dublin born McGovern made 25 appearances or the Canaries, most of them as a substitute. McGovern scored an 87th minute winner against Tranmere in April 2001 after collecting a pass from Chris Llewellyn. McGovern was subsequently booked for over-celebrating his goal.

Adrian Pennock is unlikely to forget his one and only appearance for the Canaries in April 1990. Norwich were beaten 4-1 at Southampton with Matt Le Tissier scoring a hat-trick. Ipswich born Pennock joined Bournemouth in 1992 for £30,000 and played 131 league games for them before injury threatened to end his career. However he bounced back and went on to play for Gillingham and missed a penalty in a Play-Off Final at Wembley. These days Pennock is manager of Forest Green Rovers.

Centre-half Paul Blades joined Norwich as the club's record signing (£700,000) in 1990 from Derby County. Despite making 62 appearances for the Canaries over 2 seasons Blades never lived up to all the hype and was known for the occasional dodgy backpass during his Norwich career instead of being a solid defender. City sold him to Wolves in August 1992 for £325,000. Now a health and safety officer in Birmingham.

Hot head Mark Halsey, not to be confused with the controversial referee of the same name, was sent off on his Norwich debut in April 1978 at Newcastle and only made 2 further appearances for the Canaries, he was booked in his final game. Halsey's disciplinary problems continued throughout his career in local football.

Injury jinxed Scotsman Steven Smith only made 7 appearances for City after arriving at Carrow Road from Glasgow Rangers in June 2010. Needless to say he wasn't one of Paul Lambert's most successful signings! Signed to provide competition for Adam Drury at left-back, Smith has been plagued by injury throughout his whole career. Smith is now back at Rangers after spells at Aberdeen, Preston and Portland Timbers.
